I wanted to share about my struggles and failures as a young man. In that, I can see how irrelevant it is. It's special for me and only me though. In a country like India, where there are hundreds and thousands of such stories, the struggle to survive, to create one's identity and the struggle to come anywhere closer to one's dreams is difficult. Many like me wanted to end their life at some point in time. Thus helplessness, worthlessness and the inability to cope with what's going around is the story of many. That's why it seems irrelevant, but still important.
One thing which is common in all these stories as in mine is the presence of a 'choice point' at any given point in time. To be there, letting that bad moment pass and waiting for something else to come up. The hope that it will come is more than sufficient sometimes. It is at this point one can choose to find meaning in the suffering, a larger purpose for life. Not given by someone but a created one, by oneself. A choice to set a context around the situations and happenings.
I chose to go through it all and that made a difference. It built me. It builds you. You learn to find meaning and learning in everything that happens to you and around you. It helps learn new skills, life skills which no school can teach. Temperament is developed by going through it and still not giving up. Emotional muscles do get developed by confronting uncomfortable things in life. You start to see your fear, learn from it and then go beyond it. Failure can give you what success can't even visualize.
