A Treasure for Our Growth

Experience is nothing but information or learning that we have gathered along the way. The reason it becomes important or is valued highly is that it gives us a know-how on the subject. Naturally, a pilot with a higher number of flying hours is promoted into a captain, an engineer with years of experience qualifies to become a project in-charge. Experience, thus plays a significant role in our working life.

The quality of experience is, an incident that has already happened is gathered into our memory and mind, and then we leverage upon it. Experience is the content, that once applied in the right context yields result. Therefore, as a human race, we have been able to evolve and we now don't take a half an hour simply to light up a fire to start cooking!

When we were learning to bicycle, we may fell a few times. But that did not stop us. We used that experience again and again and again, and eventually gained balance. Not only that, but years later when we wanted to learn to ride a motorcycle, we brought that experience of balance and only added the components of acceleration and shifting gears by replacing the act of peddling.

Now, when it comes to life experiences, often we use the same knowledge without the context. We get ill-treated or betrayed by someone, and then we bring that insecurity into all of our relationships. Does it make sense? Now, as we're reading this, we can look at it in a detached manner and know that it's stupid if not ridiculous to do so, and yet given in a situation we all do so.

So, after all, experience has its own limitations too, or rather we have a limitation of leveraging on the experience. Only mindfully bringing the experience – the content into the right situation – the context will allow us to surpass our own limitations, and to grow and flourish. Experience is a means and medium to leverage and not to kerb.
