The real cleverness or smartness to bring into one's being is that of the acknowledgement of one's being human. Yes, technically and biologically we all know that we are human beings but what is equally or rather more important is to accept that emotionally and mentally as well. Acknowledgement of 'being human' sets us free. Some of the things which come along in this being are:
I am a learner first and not an expert on all things
I am an average intelligent being, thus keeping my curiosity alive
I can fail, I can act stupid, I can commit mistakes, it's all being human
I don't 'have to' play all games, I don't 'have to' win all games I play
Everything is not a war. I don't have to choose all battles. I don't have to win them all either
It is fine to be vulnerable and share one's failure in the same way as success. Most things are beyond failure and success
The being of 'human beings' connects us with others. It helps us empathize and collaborate. It's a being which leads to synergy and oneness. It takes us beyond the paradigms of winning and losing into a domain of kindness and compassion.
