In today's podcast "Compulsive Behaviour", we talk about the situation of the pandemic and the public's relation with alcohol. On one hand for health and safety, there has been a lockdown and on the other hand, there has been irresponsible behaviour from the public to queue up in front of a liquor shop to get their ration of alcohol. Now, I don't mean to say this with a tone of judgement but rather look at this merely as a condition to see how compulsively we behave.
For the one's standing in that queue, it's their reality. They're not stupid or make poor judgement and yet when that compulsive nature takes over they simply aren't able to look at their own situation while even a little kid looking at them may see the absurdity of the situation.
It is only by distancing and mindfully observing our condition ourselves without a biased view that allows us to see this compulsive nature taking over us. To overcome this, the first step is to acknowledge the compulsive behaviour within us. It is only by acknowledging the compulsive nature one has a possibility to work on it and grow from there into a well rounded, responsible and sensitive human being. It's simple and a wise choice.
