Busy With Nothing

Seneca says, "No activity can be successfully pursued by an individual who is preoccupied".

When we are preoccupied with thought we can hardly accomplish anything. The thoughts keep us engaged in an activity of thinking or indulging into something which is a distraction compared to the activity we want to complete.

Many times we are only going through the motion of living. We would be reading a book, listening to a podcast, participating in a celebration yet not being there. We feel like doing something but it is not fruitful to get insights or learning from it. The experience is only of existence and not living. A distracted mind does not take anything into it. It rejects all the experiences and wisdom. It is not prepared for getting in touch with life. The funny thing is, we are so busy doing nothing that we forget our own frailty. We think we are here to stay for every and that real life is not yet started. It is not today, but someday we will start our life. Someday we will start living. The rat race of ambitions and newer goals keeps the busyness alive.

It is thus important to take a pause. To Stop. To introspect. To get a perspective of life, on life. This gives new ways to look at life, new ways of being in life. It opens up different possibilities to live one's life with joy, happiness and by creating meaning for that living.
