There is a lot one can write about Indian spices and its role in history. One can also write about how and why is India globally known as the "Bowl of Spices". But this one is not about that. Here we want to walk on the streets of India. How the aromas of different street foods call the passers-by to enjoy the delicious yet cost-effective variety. In the 'khau-gallis' (food-streets) of Mumbai you just cannot escape the mind-blowing aroma of Pav-Bhaji (bread served with a vegetable curry). The fragrance is so appealing and inviting that even if you are not hungry you will feel like going to the roadside stall and eat the Pav-Bhaji. If you walk the streets of Delhi, especially if you are in Chandi Chowk, you will encounter Dahi Bhalle (soft fried dough balls) served with assorted chutneys and some special masalas that add the perfect kick - which is what all our chaat dreams are made of! Situated in Chandni Chowk near Jama Masjid (opposite to Meena Bazaar), Qureshi whips up some mouth-watering kebabs. This joint is a haven for meat-lovers.
Either one has a mesmerizing effect of this street food on their nasal senses or they will acquire it if they're exposed just enough.
Not just the metros but any and every city and even a small town in India exude an assortment of such mouthwatering aromas. Either one has a mesmerizing effect of this street food on their nasal senses or they will acquire it if they're exposed just enough. No one is spared. From Indore known for its Poha-Jalebee to Kolkata for its Puchkas and Banaras... Lucknow... Chennai... Hyderabad... Ahmedabad... the list of places is just endless. We haven't even started with the list of street-foods in each of these places! Imagine the dramatease with your senses! Aromas of food are huge contributors to one's experience of food. Even food “tastes” different when the sense of smell is already influenced.
