Why is it that when it comes to natural things like a river, mountain, lake or forest that we do not want to impress them. Rather we are in awe of these natural living and non-living things. Have you ever tried to show how beautiful you are than a flower, or how big you are than an ocean or a mountain? It is so because you see oneness with most of the natural things in the universe. On observing them you are either humbled or fulfilled to be with them at that point in time. When we are one with someone or something, we work towards collaboration, towards co-creation. We are no more in the rush of sounding better than them.
When we are one with someone or something, we work towards collaboration, towards co-creation.
Let's look at some questions which can help us empty ourselves of the burden of looking intellectual and sounding smart:
Why do I want to impress others?
What do I miss when I don't listen to others and keep pushing only my ideas?
What's the impact of hijacking meetings in teams?
What do I achieve by making everyone listen to me?
Why do I resist acknowledging my flaws and shortcomings?
What are some of the things I do to appear intellectual, as defined by others?
Why do I always want to 'convince' others?
Convincing others about anything is a self trap. You get addicted to winning in arguments and discussions. The one last question to ask is "Is this victory really worth it?"
