Morning vs Evening Writing

Yesterday's post was about Clubhouse. We as Thirteen are also present at Clubhouse. Two weeks ago was our first conversation and the topic was the title of this post. The trigger for this topic goes back to a tweet where I mentioned my morning journal writing and somebody said, " But, aren't journal entries should happen at end of the day?". Maybe that is true for capturing one's life. But then there is another type of writing for completion and creation. That can happen any time but specifically in the morning. It is to share all the thoughts on a paper to let go of those emotions. It is the catharsis that happens with a pen and paper.

The creation of a day is also a part of morning pages. In the process of creation, one looks at the possibilities that are present in a given day and how to make them real. What is the intention with which one wants to lead a day? The creation page is about writing that intention. But why write? Because in order to write something one has to think it clearly. It needs simplicity and authenticity to articulate an intention and an emotion.

In the words of Julia Cameron, "

Morning Pages are three pages of longhand, a stream of consciousness writing,

done first thing in the morning. There is no wrong way to do Morning Pages

they are not high art. They are not even “writing.” They are about

anything and everything that crosses your mind– and they are for your eyes

only. Morning Pages provoke, clarify, comfort, cajole, prioritize and

synchronize the day at hand. Do not over-think Morning Pages: just put

three pages of anything on the page...and then do three more pages tomorrow.".
