Every morning the first thing I do is make a cup of coffee. The next thing is to open my "Day Template" and fill it as much as I can for that day. The template has two parts. The top side has the "Start of Day" with its subsections, and the bottom half is "Day End Questions". In the next few days, I will share some of the things I cover in these two parts in the subsections/questions.
Let me start with the very first thing I write every morning. It is "How am I starting the day". This covers my feelings at that moment, my state of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. My excitement about the things I love, my stress and burden about certain things which I might not be like as much as the other tasks etc. This section's whole point is to pour out everything I am feeling then.
How does this help? Firstly, I am present about all the things which are expected of me on that day. It also allows me to acknowledge my thoughts and accept my way of being. This acceptance then leaves me with a choice to create a new "way of being" or, as I call it in my template ", Intention for the day". It also allows me to visualise certain difficult tasks/presentations/conversations, so I can design them if need be. Writing all this helps bring clarity of thoughts and also brings a structure to the day.
Now you may ask me, "So the day goes as per the plan?". Of course not. It helps me prepare for the day and catch me every time ( or as many times as I can) when I am distracted from my intention for that day. Planning takes almost the same energy as one may take to wish, but the former's possibility is higher than the later.
