My naming ceremony was done on 7th Jan 1992 by the then Apple CEO, John Sculley at a consumer electronic show at Las Vegas.
Yes, I am a Personal Digital Assistant. I can do all that and more what a personal assistant does. I don't gossip about my boss and his "contacts". From a technology standpoint, I am grand-mother of all touch screen devices. I also came up with the eleventh finger for humans, about which Steve Jobs made fun of, the stylus. He used to say, "when God has given you ten fingers, why do you want the eleventh?" However, now Apple too has one, they call it pencil. But that's for some other day to discuss.

Different people used me in different ways. The first one to pick me up is those gadget lovers. For them, all the solutions to life are in a gadget. At least they think so. Unfortunately, I won't stay with them for long. Once the initial craze of exploring different features and showing it off to their friends is over, my job with them is over too. The best and the longest time I spend is with those cautious buyers who initially take time to buy me but once I am with them they totally trust me. All the contacts, personal and business, birthdays and anniversaries of friends and relatives, planned vacations, key calendar events, action plans, business meetings, relevant information like passport number, licence number, health details like weight, height, sugar levels etc are all tracked by me. I enjoy being with these people for their professionalism and relationship management. I feel a sense of satisfaction and pride in contributing to their well-balanced lifestyle.
The last category is of those people who have done all the hard work of entering entire data but then have forgotten. Not just the action plans and task, even they miss wishing their close friends and relatives on birthdays and other important events. I pity them, as all the information is there with me, I also notify them with a beep but still they for some reason don't act. Probably, they don't find time in their otherwise mechanical life. So honestly, it's not about me, its something else.
