Improvement: Possibility of Improvement

While conducting sessions on Mindfulness, I give an example about how mindless we are in some of our daily chores. Thus its an opportunity lost to enjoy and be in the state of mindfulness. In one such session, when I then gave the example of not being present while taking a shower, one participant asked, "then how come we don't apply shampoo to our body as a body-wash?" On this my response was, "even to catch your mindlessness you have to be mindful".


Possibility of improvement is a possibility to transform one's life from mindlessness to mindfulness. To be aware and present of every moment of our life. To be with oneself. To be in that act. There is no priority to be mindful in certain activities and mindless in others. It can be an important project meeting or it can be washing plates. One can choose to be mindful in whatever one is doing. As a matter of fact, being mindful is in the 'being', it just reflects, shows-up in the doing. Every attempt to be mindful will thus lead to an improved lifestyle. There is no need for explanations and justifications. There is no need for tools and technologies. If it's about improvement in health, a mindful person will know what to eat and what not to eat. When it comes to money , a mindful person is present where to spend and where to save. When it comes to work, one can plan mindfully and then be aware of all the actions while executing those plans. Improvement in every aspect of life thus becomes a second nature of a mindful person.
