A tree does not question who takes shade under her, who consumes her fruits, what bird nests upon her or who uses her branches to construct a little thatch shelter. The tree simply exists without any expectations or even forming opinions about her consumer. She simply provides. In that act, there is a true sense of selflessness. There’s a generosity, a grace. But, the tree is unaware of it. She simply does her duty of serving. The one who recognises this deed expresses their gratitude to the tree. The ones who don’t, don’t even bother to acknowledge or express her. The tree, however, remains unweathered and continues to give. For the tree thinks it’s her duty. In the act of being selfless, the tree is not afraid of losing the self - the identity.
In that act, there is a true sense of selflessness. There’s a generosity, a grace. But, the tree is unaware of it. She simply does her duty of serving.
