We all experience life (mostly) in a mundane manner. That banal experience is what we term as a "routine". But what we term as routine, is it not a new event? If we look at it, it is actually happening for the first time in our life. What happens most of the time is that while that event is happening for the first time in our life, we assume that it is a regularly recurring event, and there's nothing new in that.
It is only when we develop the ability to look at that routine as a new event, as it is happening, we get to see in its spirit, each time with a new eye. When we experience the moment as is, there is a newness to even such of these similar, banal moments.
