I took a minute to come up with and write the title for this post. Then, I just went into my thoughts. I could not write a single word to start this post. I started thinking about past regrets, to begin with. Then a new thought came to my mind and I started worrying about the future. I got myself a cup of coffee. In short, I was doing everything other than writing. Everything was meaningless and there was no energy left to do anything. Not the physical energy, but the mental energy to create a new post or for that matter to do anything new.
Does thinking require energy? Do thoughts consume it? How are energy and time co-related. With these questions in mind, I started writing this post. The questions gave me enough energy to get started. And I have observed, once we get started, things build on and we keep going. Like time, energy is also limited. As we learned in our science class in the school, energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. It just changes its form. Mechanical energy becomes electrical energy, thermal energy becomes mechanical energy and so on. Time and energy go hand-in-hand. They are together.
The way thoughts consume energy, the same way awareness also requires it. Where to put our energy, in case of physical activity is not as difficult as when it comes to mental engagements. The same amount of energy spent on thoughts if spent on attention and awareness can give different results and different experience. Energy is a zero-sum game when one chooses to spend it on a particular thing then the other thing will be left without energy and attention. Its a matter of choice. Your choice.
